On May 19, 2026, “Rețeaua Binelui” (“The Network of Good”) Smart Village Lab held its first workshop within the framework of INSPIRE. The event brought together representatives of local authorities, DGASPCs (General Directorates for Social Assistance and Child Protection), non-governmental organisations, academia, vulnerable groups, and other relevant stakeholders from the counties of Suceava and Maramureș. The workshop was held physically at the Lab’s premises in the municipality of Vatra Dornei, and online via the Zoom platform.

The main objective of the event was to organise and establish priority development directions for future solutions and local projects dedicated to social inclusion and digital transformation in mountain communities.

During the workshop, the general objectives of the INSPIRE project and the European Smart Village Lab model were presented. An important moment of the workshop was the presentation of the European platform “Rural Social Inclusion Policy Dashboard” and its Atlas with the interactive mapping components concerning social services and the social economy in European rural areas. Participants analysed the examples presented and discussed how the geographical visualisation of needs, services, and involved stakeholders can contribute to the development of more efficient community-based solutions. This component directly inspired the architecture of the future “Rețeaua Binelui” application, with participants supporting the integration of a main interactive map component that would facilitate the identification of community needs, available resources, and relevant stakeholders involved in supporting vulnerable groups.

Following the presentations and discussions, the three main strategic directions of the Smart Solutions Lab “Rețeaua Binelui” were validated:

• the digitalisation of public services related to the assessment of persons with disabilities;

• the Mountain Digital Inclusion Center – DIGIMONT;

• the community application “Rețeaua Binelui”.
