Smart Village Lab in Parczew: Rural Women co-create an initiative for their economic empowerment

On 11 February 2026, a co-creation workshop was held in Parczew (Poland) as part of the INSPIRE project, aiming to establish the local Smart Village Lab (SVL), focusing on strengthening the economic position of rural women.

The workshop took place at the District Labour Office in Parczew and was moderated by two representatives of the European Rural Development Network. The meeting gathered 17 women from the Parczew district. Twelve participants were unemployed rural women seeking new economic opportunities. The remaining participants represented local authorities, the District Labour Office, NGOs and local businesses.

The workshop was designed as a plenary co-creation session and followed a structured agenda including:

  • identification of key economic barriers faced by rural women,

  • mapping local skills and economic potential,

  • selection of an anchor project (core mission of the SVL),

  • agreement on the composition and structure of the SVL working group,

  • discussion on physical location, digital presence and early sustainability considerations.

The objective was not only to generate ideas, but to take concrete decisions on the future operation of the Smart Village Lab.

Through the workshop, the “Kobieca Strefa Rozwoju (Women’s Development Zone)” Smart Village Lab was kick-started.
